Sierra LaMar still missing even after arrest of suspect.
An uncooperative, Antolin Garcia Torres, 21, was arrested Monday at a Safeway store where he worked and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of murder and kidnapping. Torres will formally be charged with murder by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office tomorrow when he is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment.
Torres has been under police surveillance since March 28th. DNA evidence on her belongings, and DNA evidence found in Garcia-Torres’ car link the two together, according to Sheriff Laurie Smith. Still, the two did not know each other, Smith added, in what she called a “purely random” attack.
The LaMar family, at this point, still has hope that their daughter Sierra will be found. With Sierra LaMar still missing even after arrest of suspect, her mother Marlene LaMar has said, “Until she is found, our search is still not going to end. As a mother, still I am hopeful because her body has not been found and that gives me hope.”
